cogniva
A friend of mine is planning to take a year to do some research and author some papers with his mom, who's a doctor. I feel like this definitely wouldn't look as good, to have authored a paper with someone who's related to you? Even if you've done the work, it could definitely seem like you're getting special treatment. I feel it could even look worse to admissions than not having authored at all. What do you all think? Soap.Bar
From what I hear, they only test whether or not you've actually done any work during interviews (i.e. they ask you about it). Plenty of people use connections to gain opportunities, the fact that your friend worked under their mother shouldn't be all that different. S/He just wouldn't be able to use the good doctor as a reference.
Lactic Folly
I don't think it would look *worse*... but it could raise eyebrows, true.
