OnceUponATime
Let's say I do a year/portion of an American residency. Is it possible for me to transfer into a Canadian residency? I'm an American citizen with an American M.D. (I have my reasons for moving-- specifically, marriage.) Thanks for your replies!
canuck
I dont think any residency programs accept tranfers. You could apply to the Carms match again and start the same program rom scratch. The easiest thing would be to finish the residency training in the US and then write the Canadian exams or do fellowship in Canada.

Lots of Canadian programs will accept switches or transfers inside of Canada if they have space. I don't know about US to Canada though. Some of the residencies are quite different in terms of length.
