Help an old UBC moderator out. Elle Canada needs your votes!

One of the prior UBC moderators is in a contest sponsored by Elle Canada for a national "Smart Girl" award, and the votes are tallied up online. She asked me to post this message on the forums, and hopefully we'll be able to grab her some extra votes that will push her over the top. You can vote once per day, and voting closes on Sept 30. Yolanda would be the first Asian and first doctor to win the Elle Canada "Smart Girl" aware if we can make it happen. Here's an email that was sent out by her fiance, whose not only the past president of our med school student body, but also an old high-school classmate of mine.

As some people might know I got engaged earlier in the spring to

Yolanda from the UBC Medicine class of 2005. She has spent the last four

years working on the SOS, as Class President and as VP External for the MUS

representing you to the CFMS and Parliament Hill. She was also a YWCA

Vancouver Young Woman of Distinction nominee. I know that you have

received tonnes of emails from her in the past about ways to make your life

a little better while you go through the program. Now.. I hope you can

do something for her in return...

 

She entered a contest by sending a couple pictures and answering some

questions to Elle Magazine and was selected as one of 5 finalists from

across the country. They flew her to Toronto for a photo-shoot and she

will be in the Sept, Oct and Nov editions of the magazine. She'll also

be on big posters in the Smart Set stores at your local mall. It's now

down to an online vote to chose the winner and hence the request for

your help. If she is chosen she will be the first Asian (and doctor) ever

to appear on the cover of Elle Canada for their December edition which

she is extremely motivated to win. She would also win a significant

cash prize to let her take some broadcasting courses toward her dream of

having a show on women's and youth health issues.

day. There is also a $2000 shopping prize at Smart Set for people who vote.

So... I know this is a pain but I can really use your help if you think

to go to the website and vote a few times between now and Sept 30 (you

can vote once a day).
