Schen
I was just wondering, how important are ECs when it comes to medical applications? One of my biggest regrets as a freshman and sophomore was my lack of activity in clubs and etc. Would simple ECs like volunteering in a hospital plus research suffice? This is assuming that you already have a competitive GPA and MCAT score. Just curious: have you heard of anyone who did not have a stellar GPA like >3.95 but still got in with very minimal ECs? future_doc
Adcoms look at the total package. Apply, market yourself well, and see what happens. Generally, they want active citizenship along with a competitive GPA to get to the interview stage, however, each school has their own individual recipe. One of the schools does not even look at ECs. Legion
Not to mention that your ECs will most likely come into use when doing your CASPER (if my understanding of CASPER question types are correct). But other than that, Mac doesn't care about ECs to the degree that other med schools do.
