BitofaMaverick
Status: in ottawa wGPA: 3.79 ECs: - hospital - medical volunteer abroad - some varsity/intramurals - summer camp councillor - youth sports team coach - research assistant job - submitted paper to an undergraduate journal In total I have 28 things, 1/3 of which I would consider strong. Any insight would be greatly appreciated !
Savac
It's pretty much impossible to comment on your chances, since it depends on how much they like your sketch. You're over the Ottawa wGPA cutoff, so you've definitely got a shot. Just make sure that your sketch is good.
iyin0991
uOttawa is GPA Crazy! I'm not going of statistics, so I can say at the moment its just from word of mouth, but uOttawa is fixed on having high GPA and those who usually get interviews are around 3.9 and up
airborne
I know a lot of people that got interviews in the french section at Ottawa U with 3,7's
missmathematics
I don't think the OP is applying in the French stream.. 3.7ish I would say is too low, indeed you need a 3.9+ to be considered competitive, GPA is king at Ottawa... Der Kaiser
But he/she is an Ottawa resident so the cutoff is lower (~3.7). There is still a chance for an interview.
nebula22
I called Ottawa a few weeks ago about the WGPA cutoffs and they're different depending on which "group" you fall into. I specifically asked what the cutoff was for the "Residents of Ontario - Anglophone program" and they said it was 3.85-4.00 so it really depends on what group you fall into based on who you are and where you're from. broom
I didn't want to make another thread, but what are my chances? In Ontario, out of Ottawa wGPA: 3.96 ECs: - 1.5 years in research (no publications/conferences though.) - 1 year volunteering in hospital (working closely with patients, performing therapeutic activity etc.) - Prospective volunteer training for hospital. - 3 years of community involvement in youth movement in high school. - Volunteering abroad for one summer (not medicine related, but hopefully relevant.) - 1 semester of being a reporter for school paper. - No major awards/scholarships (unfortunately.) - Other minor jobs for the summer (lifeguarding, tutoring, retail, etc.) I know my ECs aren't great, but what do you guys think? Can anyone from Ottawa comment?

Savac
english stream? Both actually Somebody got accepted last cycle with ~3.846, but they rounded that up to 3.85 which met the cutoff. They got an interview and ultimately an acceptance.

That individual is in the class of 2014, so he applied all the way back in 2009. Whether the landscape has changed or not who knows. I sure hope note, I'm riding my 3.8533 for all its worth! Yeah, I guess it's a good idea to correct my mistake on this thread as well Your 3.8533 is perfectly fine though, since you're above the cutoff
