rad86
I remember someone posting somewhere before that residents are considered full-time students for CRA purposes. Because we do pay several hundred dollars to the university for registration each year, has anyone claimed the monthly $400 tuition/education/textbook amount for the entire duration of their residency? It looks like it's allowed from this document: http://www.cma.ca/multimedia/CMA/Content_Images/Practice_Management/English/PDF/tax-tips-2012.pdf But I just want to see if anyone had any actual experience with it. For a 5-year residency, this could mean more than 25k in extra tuition credit - a significant tax savings. Thanks for any input.
NLengr
Yes. Just get your T2202A and you are good to go. Don't forget you can claim LMCC and CCFP/Royal College exam fees now too.
Lindsay
I think it depends on the province/medical school. No such luck out in BC as far as I know.
