Bellcurve?

Recommended Posts

There is no set letter grade distribution for the university as a whole. Each department individually sets its own % for each letter grade, and this coudl even vary by course within the department (junior courses have different cutoffs from senior level courses). A general cutoff I've seen is 80% for a B, 85% for A-, 90% for A, and 95% for A+ (language courses have a much more brutal grade scheme than this, psychology required a 96% for an A+).

Some departments/courses will bellcurve grades. I think the only course where this happened for me was PHYS 221. I think math courses might also curve their grades as the grade cutoffs were arbitrary (they set them for each individual course section from what the TA told me).
