RickRick
For those of us struggling with debt and not in a surgical residency (aka working less than 90hr/wk) are there any ways of earning a little extra $$ as a resident other than moonlighting (which tends to be frowned upon)? Medicolegal perhaps? Writing for medical websites? Pharma Company work? Providing medical advice without breaching what is appropriate and acceptable? Realistic and morally acceptable suggestions would be appreciated
Satsuma
First, don't worry about your debt. You will pay it back quickly enough when you are staff. The extra stress of trying to pay back you loans now is not worth it. You should enjoy your time off when you have it. You work hard enough as a resident. Depending on your specialty, you can pick up CCCA shifts - so covering ICU for example. You could teach ACLS, ATLS, PALS I wouldn't count on doing much other than residency as a resident. It is more than a full time job on it's own, without trying to do consulting work on the side!
Renin
You could be a fashion consultant
