BigM
Hi there, I know this can vary from place to place but I am wondering what people think are some of the highest yield subjects to brush up on for community pediatrics (outside of a major teaching center). I start my rotation tomorrow and over the next few weeks I want to become comfortable with the issues that most commonly present. Basically I'm asking what the bread and butter subjects are. Thanks! nina2013
I did all my paeds in a teaching centre, but it's important to know the common infections and how to treat them eg bronchiolitis, croup, acute otitis media. As well, know all the causes of fever with a rash, how to distinguish them, and special signs eg Koplik's spots for measles.
Karma
If you read the pediatrics section of Toronto Notes, you should know most of the basic things you need for the rotation.
rogerroger
For your non-peads aspiring med student TNotes will get you through and beyond your core rotation and the MCCQE. The first aid series has some clerkship specific peads books. If you desire more rapid review material beyond TNotes I would look there first.
