I took a research year during medical school towards the end. Since coming back to medical school I did 5.5 months of clinical rotations (2 short core rotations, otherwise electives). I haven't but you'll be fine. 4th year tends to be a bit of a joke once electives are over so everyone is rusty. You'll pick it up again quickly.
