herewego
After reading some threads about how to spend your summers, what to do in your spare time, etc. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for Year 1 medical students seeking competitive specialties or is it as simple as research, letters, and clubs within that discipline? Lactic Folly
1) You don't want to come across as a gunner - that has connotations of not being a team player. 2) A bit specialty and program dependent, but yes, getting started on research early is a good idea so you can get strong letters. Any ECs of note may help you still, but their importance varies. Not sure that clubs help that much.
