skye204
I am having trouble carving fluted anything, and was wondering if there is some sort of technique to it. My flute tends to be pointy as supposed to being curved. How do YOU tackle fluted ends?
Artistry
Why on earth would you want a curved flute? Flat, even and smooth, that's what you should aim for.
zap_man99
errrr, yah no. there are fluted triangles and square on the DAT sometimes send a picture of what you mean by pointed also think about taking rock the DAT prep course, its expensive but helps with carving a lot
skye204
errrr, yah no. there are fluted triangles and square on the DAT sometimes send a picture of what you mean by pointed also think about taking rock the DAT prep course, its expensive but helps with carving a lot If you take a look on the left, it has a more curved end of the flute as compared to the right. Not sure if it even matters. Secondly, I have tried both ways but do you work outside-in when carving your flute or from the inside-out.
Ostracized
I have recurring nightmares about this stuff! Fortunately my 4 on carving didn't hold me back! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
zap_man99
the longer your flute, the more the end will be pointy. youre fine i believe i work outside in?
smileyforever
Just a reminder to check with the schools you are interested in - many don't even look at your carving so you don't need to obsess or waste time preparing for it.
