BubbaBlue
Hi everyone, I have an interview at Wayne State (my first and only interview thus far). I'm thinking of flying Porter to Windsor, and then taking a taxi to Detroit. My question is, will a taxi do this (i.e. cross the border)? Any assistance appreciated. future_doc
For one thing, if the taxi driver has no passport with him, it becomes a non-starter. What is the likelihood, he will have his passport with him. Time to rethink it I believe as the devil is in the details.

I think if I recall they can do that but you should of course call ahead - (the cabs are asked to do this from time to time). Some car rental places will also rent you a car to do the same thing - the cost might be rather similar if you are in detroit for only a day (vs 2 way cab fair). Assuming you have license of course

Exocytosis
Might be a little late, but there's actually a city bus in Windsor that crosses the border. $4.00 each way. http://www.citywindsor.ca/residents/transitwindsor/routes-and-schedules/tunnel-bus-to-detroit/Pages/Tunnel-Bus-to-Detroit.aspx

Alastriss
Having lived in the city for a few years I can tell you of you call ahead this can easily be arranged. I wouldn't be surprised if most taxi drivers just carried their passports with them. Border crossing in Windsor is a way of life for many of the residents there.
