Guest wassabi101 Posted June 7, 2003 Report Share Posted June 7, 2003 Hey future doc's! I posted this before but didn't hear back from anyone so I thought this title would be a better one. All I wanted to know was what your acceptance package said regarding your final semester marks. Someone mentionned that the acceptance package asks you to allow OMSAS to get your final transcript and I'm really wondering if they can reject your acceptance if you don't do as well in your final semester. Does anyone know if your acceptance is conditional on final year grades? The reason I worry is because I got a non-A mark last semester in one of my graduate courses. It's my only one and it's not even a required course, but at Ottawa U, they said that in order to be invited for an interview, graduate students had to have A's in their courses, and I'm scared that if I did get off this waiting list, they would see this mark and outright reject me!|I I know this might sound a bit absurb given it's only one mark of 10 in grad school and it's post-interview but in this period of waiting, I'm really doing lots of worrying....and so I was hoping that those that did get accepted this year or in the past might know more about this. In comparison to some of the other med schools, it seems that there aren't many student run initiatives at U of O. For example, I went to your main website, and couldn't find a forum for current or prospective students. Furthermore, I couldn't find much info on the web that relates to U of O's program. For example, a detailed outline of the preclerkship and clerkship years, how the program compares to other schools, etc. Also, and I mean no disrespect by this last comment/concern, but talking to some meds at U of O during the interview weekend, I got the impression that the students at U of O were fairly laid back, but not in a good way. I mean, everyone was friendly but the atmosphere seemed rather apathetic. In the end, I realize that no one medical school here in Ontario, and even Canada perhaps, is really that much better than another school in terms of the quality of education it offers. Thus, what the key factor that I'm zeroing in on as I make my decision about which school to attend (U of O, Queens, Mac or UWO) is the overall atmosphere. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
