A question to graduate students who adopted this route, what are your thoughts? On a personal note: after finishing my Phd, and working for a year, I came to the realization, that I can’t continue doing bench-side work and basic science for 100% of the time any more. I do need more challenges and human interaction. While I love science and research, I feel Phds are limited by resources and funding, thus they focus on questions that are distant from what the public needs answers for, a route that can grantee faster publication for further funding.
