choap10
Does anyone know how much a full-time palliative care physician makes?
FamilyGuy
It all depends on what funding model you are part of and where you are practising (e.g. home-based vs. hospital vs. PCU vs. clinic vs. combination). Some palliative care physicians bill fee-for-service exclusively. Others are part of an alternate funding plan (AFP). Every AFP is different and the hourly rate your group gets depends on the ministry's view of how much need there is in your area.
choap10
Thanks for your reply. In your estimation, what is the range of what palliative care MD's make per year or per hr?
FamilyGuy
Again, it is very difficult to answer that question. I cannot offer you a range. In the AFP I am currently part of, the hourly rate is about $125/hour base plus an on-call stipend plus shadow billing. This will be different in different areas. I work palliative care only part-time though.
