Why the wait?

[Guest bruhaha]

I don't really understand it. Someone I spoke to at UofT said that they rate and rank their interviewees by the end of the day. And that makes sense, since you wouldn't be able to remember very much about a person you met for 30 minutes 2 months later.

 

So hence the question, why does it take two months from the last interview to send out offers of admission? You'd think we'd all be ranked for GPA, MCAT and ECs by March, and then all they'd have to do is plug in the interview rankings from that day to come up with a composite, than mail out 100 letters (or however many for their school?)

 

Are they sittin gover a big stack of profiles going, hmmmmm. . do we want this guy with 3.8, 32R, or this guy with 3.9, 33Q. Cause I thought it was all electronically weighted in which case we should have our answer the day after the last interview weekend. (Which for most schools is before the first week of April, I think)

 

I'm sorry to kvetch about little things like this, but it does rather drag out a less-than-pleasant experience.
