Do I Have A Good Shot For Do Schools ?

Hi,

 

I didn't write the MCAT yet. Do I have a good shot for DO schools with:

- 3.4 total gpa

- 3.26 science gpa

 

And if so, do I need to get a really good MCAT ? (tell me yes or no because I'm not familiar with the grades for MCAT)

With your low GPA, get a 30+ MCAT to help offset it. 

Need strong ECs too for the US.

Both.

 

The science GPA is more important for some schools, depends on the school. The low science GPA will hurt you - but if you get a strong MCAT score it should help offset.

What is a competitive science gpa? I recalculated and i have:

- total gpa: 3.455

-science gpa: 3.292

The mean statistics for the current first year class, is a 3.5 cGPA and a 3.5 sGPA and a 27 MCAT, across all the USDO schools.

As a Canadian, only 10 schools accept international students. Those generally turn out to be the more selective schools, but the average is still reflective. 

If you can bring up your science gpa, you would be better off - but a good mcat score should help out.  Higher the better is the golden rule, but that doesn't mean you don't have a fair shot.
