Edict Posted May 18, 2015 Report Share Posted May 18, 2015 Don't lose those 2 years. You also can't choose which medical school you get into so you could still be away from your girlfriend. Also, i'm pretty sure you can match really well if you graduate from a Canadian medical school. US PDs know how good the Canadian medical education system is and how competitive it is. Especially since you have no guarantee you'd be in the same city as her for medical school. Even if, that's temporary as residency would change it up again. The us cycle is 1 year ahead, So you'd actually lose 3 years. Just work hard, do the step exams and get into residency in the US. You two need to have some honest conversations on long term planning. Be realistic about long distance and such, since with medicine you have zero guarantees for where youll be for residency and hope she can move to suit you(with you of course ranking sites according to where she can get work).
