Guest Cranius
Well, this question has proven to be a bit difficult to answer. Application requirements aren't much help, and most of the literature on the topic is written about US schools. From what I've read, Canadian schools are generally tougher to get into than American ones. So I will pose the question to everyone here. Assuming there are no glaring problems, what are realistically competitive GPA and MCAT scores? Thanks for any information you've got
Guest Kirsteen
Hi there, This is a tough question to answer as the requirements vary so much across Canadian medical schools. Additionally, many schools now incorporate a large non-academic component into the assessment of medical school applicants, so it's not entirely about MCAT and GPA at those schools any more. Cheers, Kirsteen
Guest Cranius
True enough, what might really help to know is the averages in these areas for students who are accepted. Anyone know where to find this?
Guest UWOMED2005
The truth is, the criteria for admission are so varied school to school in Canada and home province is so important that there is no real set GPA/MCAT that can be considered competitive for ALL schools. That being said, if you have a 3.7 and 10/10/10/Q you're pretty competitive most years for UWO and Queen's. But that GPA hasn't been that competitive in the past for U of O or U of T.
