what's it like living in halifax...

hi there

 

could anyone tell me what's its like living in halifax...ive seen some pictures online and it looks like a beautiful city. however, members of my family who visited the city a few years ago give me a different description. they say its small, alot of the living conditions are poor, the night life is minimal and the job market isn't that great. overall, they say its a 'univ town', with little industry beyond fishing. well, i've lived in such a town in ontario for many many years and i'm not fond of the idea of going to another one...i'd be grateful if anyone could enlighten me with their experience living on the east coast, especially if you aren't from that area.
