Hi, I was wondering if there is a set number of positions on this wait list, and if that is known, if anyone has any idea about how many of these positions will be used on a normal year?

Has anybody who is doing an OOP interview received any other info from the school? I responded to the email that Tracy sent saying that I would be attending the interview, but I haven't heard back from her. Does anybody know if there are any activities planned for us? I thought I read somewhere that med students would be holding school tours and be available for us to ask them questions.

 

It would be nice maybe if the 40 of us could meet up and get to know each other a little.

<pagetext>So from what I understand from Dal's website and previous posts, it's not that difficult to get an interview as an out-of province student, if you meet the cutoff. And by the sound of one of the previous posts, it's statistically difficult to get accepted as an OOP applicant, but that being waitlisted is not a bad situation since many OOP applicants end up going to school closer to home anyway.

 

Is that right?

 

Unlike other provinces, which have pretty lousy admission potential for out of province applicants, applying to Dal is worth a shot even if you're only slightly above the cutoff?

 

Thanks for your help. I'd love to experience living in the east coast, but never thought of applying to Dal for medicine because I thought OOP admissions were usually only for those with superhuman credentials.

<pagetext>I'm interviewing at Dal in a few weeks and I'm from Ontario. Although I love NS I must admit I don't know much about the Health Care issues it faces specifically as a province. Are there any issues that stand out from the standard shortages, rural areas, wait times, etc problems from across the country?

 

Any suggestions, including publications that might be helpful to read, are much appreciated.
