LittleDaisy
Hey guys, A junior medical clerk here ...As I will be applying for CaRMs soon in October...I was wondering if anyone could shed light on the current job outlook for medical oncologist and hemato-oncologists in Canada? I became interested in these specialties during my ID elective as I frequently interacted with oncologists and hemato-oncologists So far, I heard that hemato-oncologists' main job opportunities are mainly treating leukemias and lymphomas, so I am looking at 2 yeasr of fellowship after 5 years of IM+ hematology? For medical oncology, I have no idea... Thank you so much for your insight and advices
A-Stark
A considerable amount of general hematology includes malignancies. You only need a second fellowship if you want to do stuff like transplant or you want to focus in a specific area like thrombosis or gammapathies. I'm not sure of the job outlook but better if you're planning on doing some GIM too.
