Hi everyone,

Does anyone know (especially the moderators of this board), what the standard deviation of the gpa scores usually is. For example, lets say the avg. of all applicants is a 3.55, would the SD be somewhere around +/- .2? I guess what I'm really trying to ask is what percentile would a 3.7 gpa TYPICALLY correspond to if the median/mean of applicants is normally around a 3.5-3.6?

Hope that's not to confusing! Thanx a bunch for any response.

I'm sorry, I don't have that information for you. It is really hard to come up with a SD for these numbers (at least for me) and I have not come across any stats that would site it. I believe the stats from the class of 2004 are up on Mac's website somewhere. They break down the numbers of applicants with ranges of gpa's, but I don't think they go any further than that. Also, be mindful of the fact that these numbers flactuate from year to year, so last year's stats may be nothing like this year's, etc. Hope that is even remotely helpful, and maybe someone else will have a better answer. Take care. ;)
