  1. Time Stamp: 9:02 am Accepted/Waitlisted/Regrets: Waitlisted GPA: 3.75 + 0.2 (MA) = 3.95 ECs: : Lots of travel, varied work experience, outdoorsy things, organic farming, campus first response, wilderness first aid, hospital/community health/aboriginal health/family health volunteering. Been shadowing 2 NOSM preceptor family physicians at a family health team in rural North Eastern Ontario for two and half years, as well as worked on several community preventative medicine projects as a volunteer with the health team. Also worked with a local Aboriginal Organization on a community kitchen project. Experience working in traditional healing settings with residential school survivors. Decision (will you accept your offer)? N/A Campus: N/A 5 times waitlisted. Hard to stay positive but I have to for the next little while as there's still hope. Congratulations to all who were accepted! And like I say each year, never take your seat for granted.
  2. Hi everyone! Just a friendly reminder that this thread is for stats only. Also, please be respectful of those who did not receive an offer of admission. Offering congratulations to successful applicants as well as related discussion can be posted in a separate thread. Time Stamp: Accepted/Waitlisted/Regrets: GPA: ECs: Decision (will you accept your offer)? Campus:
  3. It's my understanding that being francophone is an asset if you are from Northern Ontario - NOSM's mandate is to be socially accountable to the communities it serves. But being francophone has nothing to do with your context score. If you grew up in rural (ex. St-Aubert) or remote (Kuujuac) in Quebec then your context score would be high, I imagine. RR
  4. Hi memoli, Anyone can apply to NOSM, but roughly 95% who get in each year are from Northern Ontario with the other 5% being from other rural and remote parts of Canada. Were you an adult when you lived in Bracebridge for 4 years? Unless you spent high school years or time as an adult (or both) in a northern Ontario community I imagine your chances are slim. RR
  5. How many years total have you spent in Northern Ontario according to your omsas application under supplementary info for NOSM? I imagine that is one of the most important factors when calculating context score.
  6. Time Stamp: 9:13am Accepted/Waitlisted/Regrets: Waitlisted GPA: 3.74 + .2 (MA) = 3.94 ECs: Lots of travel, varied work experience, outdoorsy things, organic farming, campus first response, wilderness first aid, hospital/community health/aboriginal health/family health volunteering. Shadowed 2 NOSM preceptor family physicians at a family health team in rural North Eastern Ontario for the past two years, as well as worked on several community preventative medicine projects as a volunteer with the health team. Also working with a local Aboriginal Organization on a community kitchen project. Experience working in traditional healing settings with residential school survivors.Decision (will you accept your offer)? Decision (will you accept your offer)? N/A Campus: N/A It appears NOSM no longer reveals where you are on the waitlist now. So I don't really know what to feel. Hopefully I can sneak in there. Congratulations to all accepted applicants.
  7. Hello everyone! A reminder that this is for stats ONLY, discussion is in a separate thread. Time Stamp: Accepted/Waitlisted/Regrets: GPA: ECs: Decision (will you accept your offer)? Campus:
  8. Time Stamp: 8:47AM Accepted/Waitlist/Regrets: Waitlist #34 Gpa: 3.95 (3.75 UG + .2 MA) ECs: Extremely varied. Lots of travel, varied work experience, outdoorsy things, organic farming, campus first response, wilderness first aid, hospital/community health/aboriginal health/family health volunteering. Trad or Non-trad?: About as non trad as they come. (32 years old) Decision (will you accept your offer)? N/A Campus - N/A Third time applying. I have been ranked approx. 20 spots higher each year on the waitlist. It is time, however, to start a Plan B that might compliment a future career in medicine. I will likely be applying to PA / Nursing programs as well as NOSM's MD program this coming application cycle. Congratulations to successful applicants! For those, like me, that didn't make it, I encourage you to keep applying. Nothing good comes easy.

  11. If you click on "My profile" there is a list of old info from the old premed101 site. It's under "Converted" Subheading beneath the "Community Stats" section. That is what i can't figure out how to change/delete. It's separate from the converted question you need to answer which is found in "Edit my Profile"
  12. Hey, new site is great! I'm having trouble editing the "converted" info in the "Overview" section of My Profile. If I view my profile, I can see the info I want to change, but when I go to "Edit my Profile" there doesn't seem to be a mechanism to do the editing for the "converted" info. Anyone else come across this? RR
  13. Congratulations teachertodoctor! I sometimes get hung up on being 31 and applying each year, so your story is particularly inspiring for me. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy the rewards of your hard work. RR
  14. Time Stamp: 9:08AM Accepted/Waitlist/Regrets: Waitlist #50 Gpa: 3.95 (3.75 UG + .2 MA) ECs: Extremely varied. Lots of travel, varied work experience, outdoorsy things, organic farming, campus first response, wilderness first aid, hospital/community health volunteering. Trad or Non-trad?: Non-trad. 31 Decision (will you accept your offer)? My offer of no hope whatsoever?? I'll have to, sadly. Campus - I would take either at this point Never been so heartbroken after so much personal sacrifice. 2nd time applying, was waitlisted last year at #72. Will apply once more and see how it goes. Congrats to those that were successful. Never take your seat for granted.
