carebthenarb
For those who've taken CASPer, is there any etiquette for it? Like should I make the surrounded area around me super clean and clear of other stuff and wear a nice suit while writing it? Or can I just keep things relatively clean and wear a nice shirt during the test? I guess the question is: Should I treat CASPer like an actual interview(since there is the webcam), or more of a test like the MCAT, where I wore sweatpants to. Or somewhere in between, like semi-casual?
m_jacob_45
There is no etiquette for CASPer. The part with the webcam lasts about 30 seconds and is to make sure that you are the same person in your ID picture (you don't talk to or see anybody else). You can have the area as clean as you want. For clothing, dress normally. Also, make sure you have anything you want with you within reach (i.e. water) since you won't have a chance to get anything not within reach unless on break. Also, If you are wearing headphones, make sure they are plugged in and the volume is on before starting. Make sure you will not be disturbed and have a good internet connection (i.e. I would suggest writing at home, not in a library/ public place)

carebthenarb
Also, If you are wearing headphones, make sure they are plugged in and the volume is on before starting. Do I need to have the headphones in the whole time, or just the start? Having headphones on my head the whole time will anoy me/break my focus probably. They are risky to take on and off since you cannot stop/rewind any of the videos if you miss some of the talking because you forgot to put your headphones back on. MacMed2018
I would worry a lot more about the test itself rather than test etiquette. I suggest turning off your cam or putting a piece of tape over the lens after the initial picture. Agree that you need a good solid connection or else your test might time out and lock you out. carebthenarb
What do you mean by worry more about the test than the etiquette? Like is it really hard or something? From my understanding, you can't really prepare for it(according to the CASPer site) and that its kinda like an interview style of questions. Or do you mean like worrying about something going wrong with the test itself i.e. computer shuts down halfway.

Also, the people who administer the casper test want you to think that preparation doesn't help because it increases the reliability of their test. if everyone prepared for the test in advance, then it would be harder for them to assess all candidates. there's lots of evidence to back up that advanced preparation and practice are helpful for tests like casper.
