clever_smart_boy_like_me
Hey everyone Wondering if anyone knows of good online programs to learn ultrasound interpretation (ie: POCUS)? Are there any that are completely free? Also - has anyone bought a small portable US? Any tips on brands/models? Thanks in advance! Egg_McMuffin
I think you go to Queen's. In second year we learn ECG interpretation from this website and I see that they have ultrasound tutorials as well. https://www.teachingmedicine.com/Modules.aspx?mid=1068 We also got a clinical skills session in second year on POCUS. bearded frog
There are many free ultrasound resources however none as far as I know that provide certification, which may be required to use ultrasound in practice depending on where/how you work. Many residency programs include ultrasound training and/or certification as part of their curriculum. Purchasing an ultrasound during medical school seems like a waste - you realistically won't have much opportunity to use it, and in 4 years when you start residency the technology will have advanced and you may want a different type depending on the use cases din the specialty you end up in. ballsortahard
