I was surprised to find out that O-week will being on Aug 23 in the admission package. Is there a reason why UT starts 1 week earlier than other medical schools? Do we get an extra week off somewhere during the year? :b

<title>course weighting</title>

<pagetext>In the general pre-med discussion, cogloghorn says

"u need 5 full-time courses at most med. schools. u of t doesn't require 5, but if you do 5, your lowest grade in a course will be discounted. i believe all the rest need 5, at least in ontario"

Is that part about U of T true? I've never read that anywhere else; all I've encountered is the weighting formula for applicants applying in their 4th or post-degree years.

Thanks.

<title>Commuting?</title>

<pagetext>does anyone commute in first and second year? Is it feasible, are most days 8-5pm? I am living in Newmarket and have been commuting for the past two years for grad school...it sucks but saves a lot of $$.

<pagetext>How is UofTs reputation for offering scholarships and bursaries to their medical students? I would expect such an expensive university to have a good awards system. Am I right?
