Hello,

i'm pretty firm in what i have decided to be my POSt but am also a little curious to know what others have taken. So, if anyone could list their program of study, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

RXK

Hi there,

For my BSc, I completed a specialist program in Human Biology with a minor in Physiology.

Hey there dr deelish,

I wasn't aware that UofT had a forensic science program. :eek What department hosts it? Lab Medicine and Pathology? Sounds interesting.

Cheers,

Kirsteen

Hey Kirsteen ..

yeah .. it's only at utm .. probably the only reason to come down to the jungle at 'sauga :)

back when i applied for the major, when you enrolled in forensics you had to take a second major that was a science (ex. biology, chemistry, or psychology) that way when you do internships in forth year, you have a little bit of the relevant science background to be able to float with the professionals (eg. working at the centre of forensic sciences with the blood stain analysts you'd suffice with either a chem or bio background) .. the way the program runs now is that i think you can choose between the major and a specialist - the specialists only do placements now ..

and that's the department of forensic sciences at a glance 0]

I'm in the Zoology Specialist program at UofT. Good program -- I recommend it. Lots of choice in terms of courses...you can very much decide your own focus within the program (ecology vs evolution vs behaviour vs physiology). I like the physiology stream. Other bonuses to the program (although not reasons in themselves to choose the Zoo Specialist) are that you don't need to take 2nd year calculus, and you don't need to take 2nd year Orgo IF you take statistics and physics instead. As I said, lots of choice and flexibility...and there is a LOT of opportunity for research. A good number of the courses are beyond good too....I'd say AMAZING.

I just finished the physiology specialist program. I really enjoyed it. 1st/2nd year is pretty standard for all life science programs (only a little variation in 2nd year). 3rd year is pretty hectic in my program, and 4th year is relaxed.

I'm in one of the Human Biology specialist programs. I really enjoy that I'm not loaded down all the time with science courses.

As part of my degree, I can take some non-science courses (e.g., sociology or philosophy), which help my mind to switch gears (although sometimes they are harder to get high marks in than science or math courses due to the subjective nature of essays).

I completed an HBSc in statistics.

My degree had a heavy emphasis on math but I did take psychology, linguistics, history, bio, chem, orgo-type classes as well!
