Gingiasung
Hi everyone, So my GPA is 3.6 and MCAT is 508 (130,122,128,128). I know that they are really low, and I am planning to redo my MCAT. I am currently finishing up my master's and I have published as co-first author in Nature structural and Molecular biology. In addition, I have gotten two scholarships during my masters. I have volunteered for roughly 50 hours at hospitals, but I have spend more than 1800 hours in research. I have volunteered about 100 hours in lab course experiment development and waste management. My EC includes playing in an orchestra and string quartet, which I put in about 10 hours per week. Is my application too weak for MD or MD/PhD? I am currently try to get shadowing experiences. JohnGrisham
If that is all you have for non-academics, you stand a slim chance. Any work experience? Any other non-academics like community volunteering, sports, leadership? I think you already know the answer, if you aren't even near striking distance in Canada, its unlikely you'll come close for USMD. Research is one thing, but not all. Gingiasung
I have worked as TA before for courses, but I guess that still count as academics? I am also currently a volunteer coordinator for a music program in the hospital, but I guess that is not very impressive.
