Hello, I was just wondering what the total tuition is for U of C during med school. Also, whats an average cost of books & supplies?

Thank you for your time.

The cost of books completely varies depending on how many you want to buy. Many people never buy a book, and many others buy the recommended book for each systems course and then sell it the next year to someone in the class below them. So books tend not to cost too much, I would guess the average is not more than $500 for all three years.

In terms of supplies, again you can spend as much as you want depending on whether you really want to have your own ophthalmoscope (most people don't own one). The only things you really have to buy are a stethascope (about $150-$200) and a white coat (about $40).

There are also a bunch of fees you have to pay at the beginning of first year for memberships to the Alberta Medical Association and things like that, which probaly total a few hundred dollars, as well as the fees you have to pay throughout school for things like elective applications. It never ends really, but tuition is where the majority of your money goes.

One thing to keep in mind is that at U of C you only have to pay 3 years of tuition instead of 4.

Also, incase that link is difficult to interpret, right now it works out to about $15,500/year for tuition.
