Buddy-Gold23
I've applied once and didn't get in, I'm taking the next year to build my application. Does anyone know of some good extra- curricular to have on an application? I was wanting to join MotionBall or maybe something involving at risk youths Any suggestions! Bambi
Any ECs/volunteering that will interest you, demonstrating empathy, compassion, leadership, communication and/or other CanMED competencies. Adcoms do not care about in which activities you participate, rather they are interested in your active citizenship, your contribution to your community and your growth, development and CanMEDS competencies being demonstrated. medhopefull1984
Not a very good strategy for U of M medical school, in particular the non-indigenous application pool. They specifically look at your GPA, MCAT, Casper scores and if offered an interview then your MMI scores and any extra-curricular activities are not factored in. I would focus my energy in improving these areas (in particular the MCAT and MMI as they are the most heavily weighted both pre and post-interview). Good luck with your future application. If OP is looking to commit to new ECs, the question should be framed instead as "What interests me, and what causes do I care about?" Start there as a launching point.
