UdeM-Blue-Theory
Hey all! Recently RBC was offering a free upgrade to Westjet Gold Rewards Program through March 31st for the CaRMS tour. This would have offered flights discounts, exclusive booking system and free unlimited lounge access. However, not all the students received that information by e-mail and by the time someone in our class pointed it out, it was too late to get on it as there was apparently a deadline to sign up. I tried sending an email to an RBC medical student specialist but I was told that the offer was only sent to students on the "Healthcare Advantage Plan" and I don't understand why I wasn't on that plan in the first place since I made my account with them in Med 1 with the LOC and all. Anyone else mad about this? or had luck to get the offer back? I feel like they should have let their clients know about this or at least tell them to get on the new "Healthcare Advantage Plan" to benefit from this...smh.. gottle
Hi UdeM-Blue-Theory, I'm in the same situation and I know some of my classmates are as well. Heard about the promotion from R1s who got it last year and classmates at Queen's Med who received the email offer at the end of November with a Dec 3 registration expiry. This week I called RBC, talked to my personal advisor, and spoke with West Jet with limited progress :(. Essentially, RBC will have to grant me an exception because the offer registration deadline has passed; if they do, they'll relay this to West Jet and I may be able to get the promotion. I also should qualify as a member of the "Healthcare Advantage Plan" aka have a VIP banking account and qualifying credit card (I have the Avion travel rewards), but I never received the email. Hoping to arrange an in person or phone call with local Health care RBC specialists in Toronto next week to straighten it out. If you have any luck or insights into why some of us got missed, please let me know! I've copied the email that some of my peers received below. My personal advisor told me that he sent an email to "higher up" and will get back to me... Will do. I got a call from a Health care advisor in Toronto and I told her other students/clients in Canada have experienced this, and she was concerned about this. She's going to escalate to head office as well. So if this has happened to anyone else, please post on the thread and I'll pass that on! Hopefully will strengthen our concern and lead to a satisfactory resolution in a timely fashion.
