Party School?? Time devoted to Med School?

I have heard Western described as a party school. Of course, I also recognize that this image could just be the stereotype, and may not be the case. How would you describe UWO's med school? Do students who are not necessarily into the 'party scene' fit in just as well as those who are? How about older students? Do they ever feel out of place?

 

In addition, are students able to maintain somewhat of an 'outside life', at least during the first two years of med school? In other words, is it possible to maintain close ties with family and friends not in med school? How many hours per week do you usually spend studying/attending class? Do you usually have time to do something non-school related on the weekends (excluding exam times of course!)?
