It's just to give you basic knowledge that other students might've acquired during their university degrees and will help you understand your basic classes during med (biochem, microbio, genetics). Given the fact that you need to pass your prep year courses in order to enter the MD program I don't think it matters. As a current student at UdeM, your prep year grades should not count towards CARMs, since no other medical school offers the Prep Year (that's what the direction told us).
