New Dentures

Had 13 teeth taken out on June 28th. and an immediate denture after. For most, how long did it take to be able to talk correctly? I'm still having problems talking, I can talk better w/out the damn thing in. I hate this thing. When I have it in, it feels and looks like I have a mouth guard in. Anyone else having these issues? I've got 2 layers of soft liner in it too. This thing sucks. It's just a thin piece of plastic! I payed $1500 for a piece of plastic!?!? :( :x

No. You paid $1500 for oral specialists to diagnose, design, and create a custom prosthetic device to fit the exact dimensions of your mouth. A ton of work goes into those things you know.

1) It is rare that people are happy with their dentures. Bone resorbes under them and they need to constatly be adjusted, your biting force is greatly reduced, and you have limitations on what you can eat. Even with their limitations, they are used because they are the best option is many situations. Hang in there. You'll get used to it/them.

2) You should talk to your dentist or denturist about your concerns. Show them where the denture is uncomfortable or how it is limiting your speech.

Thanks for your reply. I told my dentist about my concerns. Well he told me to use adhesives like ex. cusion grip or Poligrip for 1 month. If my problem still persist I have to see him again.
