I just had all 4 wisdom teeth removed today ..... the bottom two were completely horizontally impacted

as a result my topic posts may suffer from now on - those who have looked to me for wisdom ... i apologize - lol

whats the opposite of wise ? .... foolish/irrational perhaps ?

i'm hopped up on T3's .... and I must say there's alot of blood

they're havin me change the gauze every hour or so - and its completely blood soaked every time i pull it out

eating thru a straw sucks - wouldnt you know it - i'm craving a big burger right now .... perhaps a spicy chicken filet from wendy's ..... mmmm wendy she's one delicious @#%$

had general anaesthesia so unfortunately I didnt get to check out the procedure at all

I know theres no point to this post - perhaps just lookin for some pity/sympathy - lol ........ and the boards been quieter than usual so i thought i'd give a shout out ....... it may be the drugs talking - but you all rock ;)

dental students - 'WHAT' :hat

Hope you feel better soon... The stupid guy that did mine was actually a Periodontist, did some damage on my nerve, some of the right side of my tongue is still numb 4 years later!!! >:

thanx guys ...

I needed to get them out before school starts since i wont have time during - and next year i wont be covered under parents dental plan as a dependent (yet another sign i'm gettin old :\ )

hey tonick - I had to get mine out from a specialist too ... but he did mention that one of the cranial nerves that innervates the tongue runs right by the bottom teeth and thus there is a remote but plausible chance that when pulling the tooth it rubs agains the nerve causing damage

that really sucks that you were one of the unlucky few afflicted

he also warned me that since the sinuses are near the upper wisdom teeth - that sometimes you'll be blowing blood out the nose also for a couple days - no sign of that either luckily

but they still hurt significantly

he charged over a grand .... $1024 i think - good thing for insurance - only had to pay 200 bucks

the money is definately in specializing boys :hat

Do not suck/drink with straw after procedure, dentist should have told you that.:D

Can substitute tea bag for gauze.

Swelling, if any, will go away after pain goes away.

Tylenol 3 often is not the best for everyone.

I had all my wisdom teeth pulled at the same time also, under GA. I was told not to suck on straws because the negative pressure caused by the suction will cause the gums to continue to bleed (maybe that's why you have so much blood)

You know what, it's still early to be scared... it's only been 2 days after the surgery. I was like that too, and now, I'm fine. I was so concerned b/c I couldn't close my mouth or swallow for the first few days, so it was pretty bad, especially when it came to sleeping.

$1000? I had mine taken out two weeks ago and I had to pay $1500. Furthermore, the nurse who conducted the anaesthetic did a horrible job. She kpet on jabbing the needle in my arm over 10 times, claiming that the vein had slipped. I still have pain in my left arm when I apply pressure in that area.

Normally, you're supposed to check up with your oral surgeon one week post-surgery. So, don't worry and take lots of fluids. If you don't have the appetite to eat, take Gatorade. Literally, I almost fainted due to dehydration. Gatorade's a lifesaver.
