Make sure you have a purpose to it. It is typically quite possible to become competent enough in hospitalist work through residency, especially if you focus your electives in being competent in those areas. There's also no shortage of hospitals more than willing to hire hospitalists with no additional training as well. There's really only value in pursuing the additional training if you don't feel comfortable doing hospitalist work solo after graduation or if you want to work in a specific place that requires/prefers it (only places I've heard of were CAMH and one of the acute hospitals in Toronto I can't recall)
