Excal
Hi everyone, I am a new IM resident in Ontario. I am pretty interested in respirology (although keeping an open mind as I go through core IM), but have been struggling to find information on the job market/renumeration, particularly outside of academics. I was wondering if anyone would be able to provide a bit more insight into community resp, specifically: 1) How tight is the job market in major cities in Ontario (thinking around GTHA, but open to others), and are fellowships typically required? 2) Do most community respirologists primarily do clinic-based practice, or is there room for a primarily hospital-based practice? 3) Any sense of how respirology does in terms of renumeration (particularly, relative to GIM)? 4) If I were to do resp subspecialty, would I run into difficulties incorporating some level of GIM work into my future practice? Thank you in advance to anyone who's able to comment!
