Guest s sadry
Hi everyone, I was wondering if there is a weighted GPA system for any of the Ontario schools, or are all years treated equally? I know western only looks at the first two years but wasn't sure about the others. Also, I plan on applying in 4th year...but I was wondering do med schools wait for your 4th year marks before accepting/rejecting? Thanks, Sharon
Guest Steve U of T
Actually, Western looks at best 2, not first 2. Queen's looks at cumulative, or last 2(?) if that is higher. Ottawa has a true weighted gpa, where later years are worth more - 1st year weighted at 1, 2nd at 2, 3rd at 3. U of T will drop your lowest x credits, where x is the number of years you have completed, if you have always taken a full course load (i.e. 5 credits/year). They do not wait for your final marks before accepting/rejecting, although most schools will need to see them, and offers may be conditional on getting a certain gpa. I think all schools require you pass your courses.

Guest Kirsteen
Hi there, Is there any medical school in Canada that looks at first year at University as worth as much as other years? There are at least two in Ontario: 1) McMaster: where all years are included in the GPA, thus all are considered equally. 2) UofT: if you have completed less than 5.0 full credits per year then all undergraduate years will be considered equally. Cheers, Kirsteen
