Hi all,

Here's the continuation of last year's centralized thread for each person (if they want), to share their application status thus far, including accepted, rejected, and waitlist notifications. Please post which schools this year accepted, rejected, and waitlisted you, so that all us curious people can see who is getting accepted where. :)

This applies both to people who have already been accepted, as well as those still waiting to hear from other med schools. This also includes applicants to US or other foreign med schools.

Please keep this one thread focussed on the above topic only; I will delete any non-profile responses. If you have any questions, please start a new thread in the appropriate med school forum, or in the General Premed forum.

You can copy and paste the following example, and modify it to your tastes. If you're really keen you could add your MCAT and GPA scores, but if you can fill out the below (which isn't so personal) that'd be great.

------

I'm a (Province) resident in (undergraduate or graduate) studies. My GPA was (XYZ) and my MCAT scores were:

Physical Sciences: (x)

Verbal: (y)

Biological Sciences: (z)

Written Sample: (z)

Accepted at: UBC, U of Calgary

Rejected at: U of Alberta

Waitlisted at: U of Manitoba

Of all the schools I applied to, I'd like to attend (XYZ Med School) as my first choice.

------

Ian

Well, even with celebrations for the Queen's Jubilee and 2 holidays on 3-4 June, mail has arrived.

I completed my doctorate at the University of Oxford in 2001.

I was accepted by U of T. This is my second time applying to this school.

i'm a recent (2001) graduate from U of T. i received my h.b.sc. in the research specialist programme in psychology. this is my second time applying to any of the medical schools in ontario. last year, i hadn't written the mcat, so i could only apply to u of o and mac. after being waitlisted at ottawa, and totally getting the shaft from mac, i decided to bite the bullet and take the stupid test. :)

accepted at: western, ottawa

waitlisted at: queen's, U of T

i will be accepting the invitation from western.

GPA: 3.86

MCAT: 10, 12, 10, S

Hello:

Ontario resident

Bsc Hons Western

GPA: 3.91 on OMSAS scaling

Accepted: UofT, Mac, Western

tough one btw UofT and Western but I will accept UofT to live in a new city :)

Certainly absolutely will NOT accept Mac, I have seen how people from Mac constantly have to defend their school that provides lots for people to be critical about. I don't want to have to do that for my whole medical career. I know that friends have told me that tons of resident directors look down on the school and its half baked methods of selection and training, so I would rather avoid that can of worms all together.

Good luck to all, if things dont work out this year PLEASE PLEASE apply next year. Last year I was accepted nowhere and this year is a total 360 !!!!!!

I'm a BC resident. Finished a BSc in physiology at UBC last year; spent the past 14 months travelling, working, relaxing. Rejected by UBC med last year, so I rewrote the MCATs and tried to improve my CV. Also, applied to some american schools as a back up:

Accepted at: UBC, U of A, Queens, as well as two schools in the states, which i loved, but can't afford

Waitlisted at: UWO

MCAT: 37S

GPA: 3.7

My first choice is Queens, but due to external pressures (i.e. family, etc.), i will probably be sticking around at UBC. can't complain tho, cause it sure beats last year. and for all of you who are facing post-rejection depression, i can say i've been there, done that, and it's not so bad in hindsight. you realize that medicine isn't everything, and it'll make you a better doctor in the end.

I'm a Calgarian. Done 3rd year of Molecular Genetics & Biology at UofT; spent the past month playing games and working in a research lab.

rejected w/o interview: UBC, Ottawa, Mac, UofT

rejected with interview: UofC, UWO

pending: UofA (probably poor chance)

accepted after brief wait: Queen's

GPA: 3.83

MCAT: v10, b13, p15, R

My only choice is Queen's ...

UT, Queen's, and UWO are equally attractive to me

for the fellow waitlisters:

KEEP YOUR HOPE HIGH!!! after much sorrow and despair (e.g. receiving 6 rejections in a row and an unsatisfying interview at UA) something good might just be around the corner!!!
