Guest Ska Band
Hi everyone! I'm gonna go into UBC Science next year and i'm really worried about doing shitty. If I mess up my first year, will I still be elligible to get into UBC Med? How much are the pre-reqs weighted during the admissions process? Guest Ian Wong
Let's keep the profanities down eh? Makes the forum less professional. Your GPA counts for a huge part as to whether or not you get an interview, and your pre-req GPA is similarly very important, although UBC has not ever to my knowledge released how they view the pre-req GPA vs the overall GPA. Therefore, you should try to keep both high. It's very hard to reverse a year of bad GPA's. If you start with a bad year of say 3.0, then even three good years of 3.8 GPA still leaves you with a 3.6, which is not a great GPA when applying to many of the Canadian med schools. As a result, you should really aim to do well in your first year, as the study habits that you get out of first year will probably dictate how well you do in future years.
