Guest pdehghani
hey, sorry for the repetitive email hahhaha. I started my own thread by accident. I've never chatted on these boards before hahahhaah...... But Pashmina, if you can, please count me in for the Afghan Horsemen as well. My name is Payman, and I'm looking forward to meeting every one.
Guest Zen
Hi everyone, I am really hoping to join you all for dinner, I hope you don't have to be a long time user of these boards to participate :-) Cheers!!!
Guest Pashmina
Hey guys, Wow, I am so impressed by the response from all you guys. Judging from the number of people planning to attend, I think we have enough to book the private room. FYI, the room is furnished with cushions and knee high tables. So we get to sit on the cushions (super comfy) and can be as loud as we like. Physiology, Afghan food is very much like persian food (they're ALMOST identical with some subtle differences). It includes varieties of rice, vegetables, meat dishes, and much much more and is therefore perfect to accomodate both vegetarians and meat eaters. Payman, Your name sounds Afghan to me. Are you Afghan by any chance? Well, keep those replies coming. Once again, I can't wait to meet all you guys. I'll post all the details of the restaurant closer to the date for all those who've never been there.
Guest McCarey007
Hey guys, I would be interested too. One thing though...is Afghan food spicy?? Spicy food and I don't mix well at all. >: (this is how i'll look if I eat spicy foods !)
Guest pdehghani
Hey Pashmina, No I'm not Afghani. But close enough. I'm persian from Tehran.
Guest Pashmina
Hey McCarrey007, No the food is not spicy at all. It can be if you like but isn't the case normally.
Guest PGmed
Dinner sounds great, count me in. I just found out that I need to drive down to Vancouver around that time. So it looks like I will be able to attend the financial session. I look forward to having the chance to meet with all of you then. -Brian.
Guest physiology
PGMed, Wow, your volunteer work has been amazing. I bet we're going to hear a couple of great stories from you at the dinner! No need to yell either because I think we get a room! Based on your extensive medical experience, have you given thought to any particular specialty? Guest PGmed
Hey physiology, I have always been interested in family medicine. I have a strong interest in working with native populations, and doing further missionary work. I would really like to do some work up in the Canadian arctic. Family medicine suites these goals well. However, this past year has shown me how fascinating surgery and trauma can be, but I find the patient contact a little too brief. It is a shame that gone are the days of the G.P.. For a good part of my Grandfather’s career he was the only doctor or one of a few doctors in Dawson’s Creek. As a result his practice consisted of all components of medicine: surgery, anesthesiology, trauma, obstetrics, public health and family medicine. Now a days we either have the specialists, or we ship out the patients… maybe that’s why health care costs so much? Brian
Guest Pashmina
Hey guys, I just wanted to give you all a final heads up about tuesday's dinner. The reservation at Afghan Horseman is for 6:30 (but I'm sure it's no prob if we show up before that). For those of you who've never been there, the address is 445 W. Broadway -- on Broadway and Cambie that is. The reservation is for the private room and it's under my name -- Mina. I know most of us will probably head over together, but just in case there will be any late comers, I thought I should post up the details. Let me know if anyone has further questions. Hopefully I'll see you all on tuesday. Ciao for now, Mina
Guest soapyslicer
Hi Pashmina, Thanks for organizing this. Do you know how many the room can handle. Thought that once others who are not on this forum find out about dinner we may have extra's. How about those coming meet at the bottom of the stairs on the left side outside B hall once the meeting is over. We could walk together that way.
