Check out the criteria on the U of A webpage: www.med.ualberta.ca/ugme/...ochure.cfm

I only have two recommendations: 1) Try to space out those classes that have lab components (chems, physics, some biology courses) to one or two per semester, and 2) Take organic chem in your 2nd year (Chem 260). This will free up some junior credits (100 level courses) so you can take a course that interests you as an option.

Also, take 2 years to finish the prereqs. There really isn't the need to rush, MCAT or not. Most people, I believe, write the MCAT a couple times anyway. You can easily write it after first year if you have a good study course-pack companion. U of A has removed the option of writing the MCAT in the summer of the same year of the application, so the MCAT must now be written before you apply.

Also, check the calendar for the requirements of whichever program you're registered in.. the five or six science/medicine programs incorporate typical premed sequences. It also depends when you plan to apply to medicine- if you take organic in 2nd year, you will not be able to take biochem until 3rd year, or the summer after 2nd year at the earliest. Also consider talking to the science advisors and having them look over your program as they deal with a lot of premeds.
