FYI, it says in that link that in order to get in province coverage you must be a resident for 1 year, however if you look further into the site it says you only need to wait 3 months to apply after moving.

If you are a student you can keep your health care from the province you came from. I have lived here for 5 years and still have my Ontario health care since we don't have to pay a monthly fee.

Even though we do have that pesky little monthly fee in Alberta, it may be partially or even fully subsidized if you're below a certain income level. www.health.gov.ab.ca/ahci...ml#Current This is an important little fact for me now that I'm married and no longer covered by my parents.
