Guest predental03
Hi guys!! Heres what I'm wondering....My gpa is pretty low about a 3.0 but I did very well on my DAt scores (above 20's). Do I have a shot at admission to dental school even though my gpa is low? Any advice anyone has would help. Thanks!!
Guest LestatZinnie
i dont know about other schools, but for UBC for admission they take into accnt 30% gpa, 30% dat, 30% interview, and 10% reference or something similar. For Mcgill they have a cut-off for interview based purely on gpa. From what I hear admission to U of T is heavily emphasized on gpa as well. but u know what, dont get too hung up on numbers. there are plenty of examples of ppl who hv low gpa who get in and those who hv high gpa didnt get in. from what i remember from ubc medicine statistics a few years back, about a quarter of admitted students hv avg less than 75%! the same probably goes for dent so i think u can relax. ubc takes a more well-rounded approach compared with the other two school i listed imo. but check out the ubc tuition for class of 2008- $45K for 1st year and $40k every year after......ouch!! :x
Guest toothy jr
However, if I was in your situation and a 4th year undergrad dead set on getting into dents I would hedge my bets and also give US schools a try. Tuitions do cost more but then again if you do well in first year you can always transfer back.
Guest LestatZinnie
i dont know about other schools, but UBC does not accept advanced standing students and mcgill only does so if people dropped out to create space. hope this helps.
