Guest Saberial
Hi there, I've noticed that Dal uses a 4.3 GPA scale, how does the conversion work for OOP applicants that come from a 4.0 school (i.e. UofCalgary). Thanks for your help!
Guest JewelLeigh
While the cut-offs are on a 4.3 scale, applicants' grades are converted to a 4.0 scale for assessment for admissions. If you aren't sure if you meet cut-offs, the IP cut off of 3.3/4.3 is a B+ (77+) while the OOP cut off of 3.7/4.3 is an A- (80+) approximately. Guest Madz25
In 4.0 scale: 85-89 = A = 4.0 90+ = A+ = 4.0 In 4.3 scale: 85-89 = A = 4.0 90+ = A+ = 4.3 Hope that helps! Madz
Guest JewelLeigh
This is actually slightly incorrect. Some 4.0 scales use what madz said, but the one used by OMSAS and Dal is as follows: 90+ = A+ = 4.0 85-89 = A = 3.9 80-84 = A- = 3.
Guest cactus
So, if for example you come from a school with a 4 scale like Acadia that has different ranges for letter grades A+ 94-100 A 87-93 A- 80-86 Does you GPA stay the same for Dal admissions or do they just look at the letter grade and still change it to the range stated by Jewel? In order to compare people's grades accurately, the % would have to be factored in but those do not show up on transcripts. If those ranges were factored in, someone could have a significantly higher GPA on paper if for example their A-'s were actually at an 85-6%. N'est-pas? Guest JewelLeigh
Dalhousie uses whatever conversion scale OMSAS has assigned to your university: www.ouac.on.ca/omsas/pdf/c_omsas_b.pdf
