sky_blue2000
Hello everyone, I just recently decided to apply to medical school in the US and am currently studying for my MCAT. My cGPA is about 3.695 but my sGPA is only 3.33, and assuming I get like a 32 on my MCAT, what do you think my chances at a US med school are? I've also noticed that there are like different levels of medical schools, how would I know which ones are better than others? Any other tips and advice would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks a lot, sky_blue
a41
See what your MCAT is first... how would I know which ones are better than others? Which sandwiches are better than others? Are meat-based sandwiches better than vegetarian options? Ham and swiss or BLT? What about cream-cheese bagels? Do those count as sandwiches? My point is that your question can be answered in a number of ways, and your personal preference will also be a factor. Also peanut butter and (grape) jam. VTeight7
^^ Umm, should we remove the 2009 cycle information from the long list for subsequent posts? It would look neater if we just started with a fresh list, no?

Femto
Very average cGPA - 3.8, average MCAT - 34R. But I think its my research experiences that really helped me. what kind of research experiences did you have? Hehe, sorry for all the questions, but Stanford is one of my top choices, and since I've heard that it's quite hard for Canadians to get in, I just want to get an idea of what kind of applicant they might look for... I would also like to know what ype of research you think helped you out so much. Where, and what field?

Hopefully, I haven't applied to Boston yet but I have been seeing a lot of rejections from them lately so just too scared to apply. I also have 24 schools on my primary list but I don't know if I'll get to them in time to even be competitive. Seems I'm really late on those last 10 so I might end up forgetting about the last few since I would likely be applying only to interview for waitlists. You've already been invited by Vandy, if I'm not mistaken right? But 41 is ALOT of schools... does that include US and Canada or only US? U.S. and Canada. I'm done all my US apps now I just gotta start the Canadian ones lol. Taking a break though this is tiring work. Of course I withdrew from one and only one school: Kentucky. This despite being screened in. I just don't have the time to do the secondary when I should be focusing on not burning out for canadian apps. I agree with the previous poster who said waiting is the hard part. It is.
