Jewels1986
Is it all right to use parents as verifiers for awards, or for things where you've lost contact with the supervisors? And for the "comments" section I was assuming that that was a place to list the person's job title / position, but I wasn't sure. Any ideas? Thanks. Kuantum
When applying to UBC, I used my Dad as a verifier for something. However, it was for something that really only affected my family so I don't think I'll run into issues with it. However, for something such as volunteering or extracurriculars, it is probably best to at least try to get someone outside the family.
Kirsteen
Hi there, I agree with the above: use parents as verifiers when no other option exists or when it seems most logical to use a parent. When I applied a few years ago I cited my parents as references for some of the traveling I'd done, for example. That didn't seem to be a problem. Also, when in doubt, it's better to include a verifier than fail to include one. Cheers, Kirsteen
peachy
I agree that for some very personal items such as travel it might make sense to use parents as verifiers. However, I would avoid doing so as much as possible. I think it's better to put down a trusted professor (or supervisor, or equivalent) in cases where you don't have a verifier, and let them know about it.
