Does spring of one year + fall next year = full-time?

If, say, I am taking 4 of fewer courses in fall 2006, 5 courses in spring 2007 AND fall 2007, and then 4 or fewer in spring 2008, would those 2 consecutive semesters with 5 courses count as a full-time year even though technically they are not in the same academic year? (despite being in the same calendar year) One would be in the 2006-07 academic year and another in 2007-08.

I think I read on the UWO website that they want it to be 5.0 courses from September-April. Not too sure about other schools.

I am pretty sure that most schools that require years of full-time study want that full-time year to be consecutive courses without breaks like summer in between.

Like Satsuma said, I'm sure it's full-tim without summer break. Even if you're registered for spring/summer session, I'm sure most schools mean September to April for full-time.

Cool, I figured as much, but it never hurts to check for a loop-hole. I have to go full-time (3 courses or more, that is) in the spring anyway to avoid paying my student loans, so I figured I could take 5 courses if it'd make a difference for med school apps, but I guess it won't.
